Brooke Parker Walker is the daughter of author Dee Dee Parker -- and the inspiration behind the Josie Jo's Got to Know project. Brooke was diagnosed with advanced Stage IV Breast Cancer at the age of 30. Despite a poor prognosis and given just one year to live, Brooke has defied the odds and recently celebrated her third year of Survival. Through the selling of this book, Brooke hopes to raise awareness for the early detection of breast cancer, especially in younger women. Brooke says, "I am blessed with love and support from family and friends, and am amazed at the goodness I have found in people as I continue my journey. I cherish and celebrate each new day. She adds, I am one among so many women with this disease. And I speak for all of us when I say, I am a survivor!" Brooke lives outside of Charlotte in the small North Carolina town of Waxhaw with her husband, Trey, their family felines, Hunter and Carter, and a new puppy named Greta. Born in the western North Carolina mountains, she enjoys returning home to visit her parents, Reverend Jim and Dee Dee Parker of Waynesville. |
