All Proceeds Benefit Breast Cancer Awareness,
Cancer Research and Cancer Patient Expenses.

Brooke Parker Walker is the daughter of author Dee Dee Parker -- and the inspiration behind the Josie Jo's Got to Know project.

Brooke was diagnosed with advanced Stage IV Breast Cancer at the age of 30. Despite a poor prognosis and given just one year to live, Brooke has defied the odds and recently celebrated her third year of Survival.

Through the selling of this book, Brooke hopes to raise awareness for the early detection of breast cancer, especially in younger women.

Brooke says, "I am blessed with love and support from family and friends, and am amazed at the goodness I have found in people as I continue my journey.  I cherish and celebrate each new day.” She adds,  “I am one among so many women with this disease. And I speak for all of us when I say, ‘I am a survivor!’"

Brooke lives outside of Charlotte in the small North Carolina town of Waxhaw with her husband, Trey, their family felines, Hunter and Carter, and a new puppy named Greta.  Born in the western North Carolina mountains, she enjoys returning home to visit her parents, Reverend Jim and Dee Dee Parker of Waynesville.

Josie Jo's Got To Know

Written by
Dee Dee Parker

Dee Dee Parker has always had a love of children. She taught remedial reading in public schools and youth at church Sunday School. She uses her clown character, Deedles, to brighten the lives of children touched by illness and emotional trauma.

Dee Dee lives in the beautiful western North Carolina town of Waynesville with her husband, Jim, her mother, Ruby, Baby, the miniature Schnauzer and Miss Kitty, the family cat.

Illustrated by
Jenny Allen

Jenny Allen lives in a small cottage in Maggie Valley, North Carolina with her husband, Chris, and their canine kids, Maisy and Del. While she keeps a tidy home, her desk blotter is covered with doodles.

Jenny is an avid animal welfare advocate and Junior Girl Scout Leader. When she's not drawing, she can often be found enjoying apple muffins at Barber's Orchard.
